Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) team investigating money laundering in the alleged scam within Delhi Excise Policy made a significant development by arresting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from his residence on Thursday night, March 21. Kejriwal's arrest prompted various political reactions, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemning the action and labeling it as an attack on democracy. Banerjee expressed her solidarity with Kejriwal's family, emphasizing the need to address the targeting of opposition leaders during the MCC period.
On Friday, March 22, Banerjee took to social media to voice her condemnation, stating, "I vehemently condemn the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, the sitting elected Chief Minister of Delhi elected by the people." She further criticized the selective targeting of opposition leaders while individuals under investigation by agencies like CBI/ED continued their activities, especially after aligning with the BJP. Banerjee announced her INDIA alliance's intention to meet with the Election Commission to protest against the deliberate targeting of opposition leaders, designating representatives to express their objections.
